It’s time for the choir to begin for the fall. Our first Sunday will be September 10th. Come on upstairs at 9:00 a.m. to rehearse for Sunday Services. (On Sept. 10th we will lead the congregation in the hymns, and we will have an anthem for the following Sunday.) Everyone is welcome, feel free to try it for a Sunday or two. We are friendly and welcome everyone.

HANDBELL CHOIR
Have you ever wished that you could play an instrument? If so, the HUMC handbell choir may be the perfect place for you! If you have two hands, we will start you out with two bells and help you figure out where those two bells need to play. We are a group that loves laughing, making music, and spending Tuesday nights together – and we have plenty of space for you!
The handbell choir will have their first rehearsal of the season on Tuesday, October 17th, from 7:00 – 8:00. You are very welcome to drop in and try it. We would love to show you how well you will fit into the bell choir.
Please see Jeannine with any questions or for information.
Our little pantry at Sparks of Hope is nearly empty, and our shelves are bare. Members of our recovery community rely on your generosity to see them through the hard times. Please drop off nonperishable groceries when Sparks is open, or leave them inside the pantry.
The Church office is glad to announce that services going forward will be streamed via YouTube Live, in addition to the current Facebook Live services. You can access the Youtube live stream on our Youtube Channel, or directly on our church website homepage.

ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL TO WORSHIP You have called us to this place, O Lord.
Each one of us is unique,
with differing gifts and talents.
Yet, each talent represented here is valuable in God’s realm.
Lord, help us find ways
in which to use our talents
for healing and hope.
Come, let us praise the Lord who has called us here.
Let us open our hearts and spirits
to God’s word for us. AMEN.
OPENING HYMN: “The Church’s One Foundation” #545 UMH
OPENING PRAYER Lord, be with each one of us today.
We have come seeking your guidance and direction for our lives.
Help us recognize the gifts you have given to us,
and enable us to put these gifts to good use in your world.
We ask this in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
PRAYER OF CONFESSION It is so easy for us, Lord, to diminish the gifts you have given us.
We have come to believe that either we are experts
in some areas or we know nothing.
Each of us has been given special talents and gifts
that can be used to help others, but for some reason
We have chosen not to use these gifts, deciding that they are unimportant or not needed. Forgive us when we make decisions not to act.
Help us look at the blessings that you have poured into our lives
and to discover the special talents that we have.
Open the doorways of service and let the gates swing wide
on the “grease of grace,”
that we may go forth to serve you in this world.
In Jesus’ Name, we pray. AMEN. Each one of us has been blessed with unique talents. The Lord has need of our talents, our energies, and our spirits in the world in which we live. Place your trust in God’s loving guidance and open your hearts to serve God. In the name of Jesus Christ you are forgiven.
In the name of Jesus Christ You are forgiven. Glory to God ! Amen.
May the peace of Christ be with you. And also with you. Let us pass the peace of Christ.
