Join the Eight Days of Hope Buffalo 2024 Interest Meeting!
As members of Hamburg UMC, we're excited to support Eight Days of Hope Buffalo, a volunteer group dedicated to providing free home repairs for families in need. We're thrilled to announce that Eight Days of Hope Buffalo is returning this summer, and we need your help to make it a success!
Last year, Eight Days of Hope Buffalo, with our support, assisted 475 families in the Lovejoy District with vital home repairs. This year, our mission is to unite the local church and community to extend this assistance to another district in Buffalo. But we can't do it alone.
We invite you to join us for an Interest Meeting on April 18th at 10:00 am at Friendship Baptist Church (402 Clinton St, Buffalo, NY 14204). At this meeting, we'll share details about the upcoming mission, including dates, the district we'll be serving, and more.
Whether you're a member of Hamburg UMC or part of the wider Western New York community, we welcome you, your family, friends, church staff, and missions board to join us in kicking off Eight Days of Hope Buffalo 2024.
For any inquiries, please email us at edohbuffalo@eightdaysofhope.com or visit https://eightdaysofhope.com/get-involved/events/
Together, as members of Hamburg UMC, let's make a difference in the lives of families in need right here in Buffalo!
(Eight Days of Hope is a Christian nonprofit that exists to love and serve those in need after natural and human disasters.)

CALL TO WORSHIP
Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when we live together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down upon the beard
upon the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!
It is like the dew of Hermon which falls on the mountains of Zion!
For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,
life for evermore.
OPENING MUSIC: “We are the Church” #558 UMH
OPENING PRAYER:
O God, just as the disciples heard Christ’s words of promise and began to eat the bread and drink the wine in the suffering of a long remembrance and in the joy of a hope, grant that we may hear your word, spoken in each thing of everyday affairs:
Coffee, on our table in the morning;
the simple gesture of opening a door to go out, free;
the shouts of children in the parks;
a familiar song, sung by an unfamiliar voice;
a friendly tree that has not yet been cut down.
May simple things speak to us of your mercy and tell us that life can be good. And may these sacramental gifts make us remember those who do not receive them:
who have their lives cut every day,
in the bread absent from the table;
in the door of the hospital, the prison,
the welfare home that does not open;
in sad children, feet without shoes, eyes without hope;
in war hymns that glorify death;
in deserts where once there was life.
Christ was also sacrificed; and may we learn that we participate in the saving sacrifice of Christ when we participate in the suffering of his little ones. Amen.
