Missions/Outreach is sponsoring a special collection for the next 3 weeks for Operation Good Neighbor Food Pantry in North Evans. They contacted us with an urgent need for egg noodles, penne pasta, oatmeal, peanut butter, and jelly. An increased need in the area is straining their resources. Please consider purchasing extra items during your next shopping trip to help our neighbors in need. The collection tote is in Gathering Space until the end of April.

A collection tote is also available for Eden-North Collins Food Pantry until end of April.

Churches In Action has been actively involved in helping furnish and set up 6 Afghan families in their new apartments. We have the opportunity to support another family resettling in the area. As we have developed a closer relationship with our new Afghan friends, we have found most of the families have been forced to flee their country with only the clothes on their backs because they provided help and support to our US Military.

We are working with Afghan Community Inc, a 501(c)3 set up by two Afghanistan doctors that were forced to flee their country. The organization is dedicated to helping new evacuees with resettlement and assimilation. They currently support 600 Afghan families in Western New York.

We are resettling a family of 4 this month. Their immediate needs are listed below. We are collecting new or very lightly used items in good condition through April 26th.

NATIVE AMERICAN MINISTRIES SUNDAY

SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2023

Most Americans today recognize that the immigrants to America found a God with little resemblance to the one Christians identify as Creator. That’s why the people of The United Methodist Church, Native and non-Native, are creating a new history. Through Native American Ministries Sunday, we are able to help Native American pastors, congregations, and seminary students to do what only they can do: authentically worship and serve Jesus.

As a member of The United Methodist Church, your gift on Native American Ministries Sunday equips Native congregations like nearby Four Corners UMC to worship and serve as only they can. This work and hundreds of other ministries are possible because you give. Offering envelopes will be on the table at the entrance to the sanctuary, next to the offering plate in the sanctuary, and at the Welcome Center, or you may use electronic giving or a check mailed to the church for your offering. Gifts may be given on April 23 or any time thereafter.

Our little pantry at Sparks of Hope is nearly empty, and our shelves are bare. Members of our recovery community rely on your generosity to see them through the hard times. Please drop off nonperishable groceries when Sparks is open, or leave them inside the pantry.
